So,, I hear today is Christmas?? Yeah!? Well maybe in the U.S., but in the Czech Republic.. yesterday was Christmas!! So we had a delicious typical Czech dinner which included goulash, potatoes, cabbage, and duck. It was pretty good :p The giant beer was also yuummmyyy!! Today we did a tour of the city (Prague) and I learned all about its amazing and LENGTHY history. We saw a distant view of the castle which began its existance in the 800's!! (may do a tour tmw) We also did a tour of a Jewish 'museum' which consisted of a few cinegogs and a small jewish cemetary... very interesting stuff.
On another note, it really didnt feel like Christmas today. Other than the fact that I have realized how much I miss my family and friends!! Its quite sad because I have no contact with the people that are most important in my life right now either. Matthias is with his family in Germany, Ozi is also... Traesa left me! and Patrick is at home in Groningen..
Not to mention my family is thousands of miles away.. probably eating a delicious dinner that I would kill to taste.. sitting around a Christmas tree that I never realized the beauty of, and enjoying each other's smiles and laughs that I would kill to see and hear. (ok I'm guna cut the mushy stuff).. really I never realized how special the holidays are!! So to my family- know that I miss you so much and you should all be delighted to be in each other's presence.
Ok- so in order to try and forget what I'm missing today, me and the girls are going on a pub crawl!! I had a blast at the one in Berlin so I think another one in Prague is in order.
Wanna know something so funny!? 3 really strange coincidences have happened on our trip. On the train to Berlin, by chance, we met Alex's roommate on HIS WAY to Berlin! He lives in Berlin!! So he got to show us around! It was great to know a local, did I tell this story yet? Then to top it off, the second night we were there.. in our hostel, we met a student from Eastern Michigan University!! Talk about a small world... WOW!! All the way in Berlin!! Then today, on our tour of the city, we met 2 guys that we partied with in Berlin on that pub crawl! I dunno but I think that stuff is pretty strange.
So, I should go and get ready for this pub crawl. Unlimited shots, beers, hot wine, and rum n cokes for an hour!! WHHHEWW!! Then we will check out a few local clubs!! The guys from Berlin (Californians) will join us.. cool! Two twins that are pretty fun to hang with :)
Merry Christmas everyone :)
Goodnight,
G!nosa

Greetings Precious,
There is nothing shameful about your "mushy" feelings for family. They are worthy of expression. Isn't that what makes us superior to the lesser creatures and family so precious? Sorry for your unfortunate feelings of loneliness but not to worry. I remember well my time spent overseas far away from home. I will admit that the first few months were brutal. I felt as you now do. My coping method for homesickness was alcohol and the local women all commingled with a totally shameless indiscriminate lack of order. I shouldn't make the following admission in such a public venue but I made a life long "connection" with one of the local women; she "visited" me upon her death! Talk about overwhelming mushy feelings wow! What a spiritual surprise of a psychic nature! I had no idea that I had affected her in such a manner back then but during that period of my life I was extremely young, dumb and clueless. (Nothing much has changed except that I'm no longer young.) It's those types of experiences that make life so rewarding and worth having. But despite how I felt and regardless of the vast distance away from family their love for me never wavered and most comforting of all, I knew with utter certainty and without doubt that eventually I would return to much fanfare and celebration; I did.
Nothing in life will seem strange once you "see" the bigger picture and understand how and why we are all connected; there is only ONE. The only mind that perceives separation is the mind that thinks it is.
I love you dearly and no matter how vast the miles of separation my love for you will NEVER waver nor diminish. So enjoy your wonderful experience, it can neither be replaced nor substituted and will last a lifetime. Make it worthy of your life because both you and your life are worth it.
Much love,
Dad
Hey! If everyone is somewhere else, who are you there with? Just curious.
We missed you too kiddo. Not the same withoutcha. The kids did the Treasure Hunt and we reminisced about when you and Josh used to do it together, we opened presents and took pictures, but your brilliant smile wasn't there, we ate dinner, but your place was empty. Yes, it was lovely to be with family, as it always is, but there was a void with your place being unoccupied. :C And then Shell and I celebrated our b-days, (my 40th as you know) and you weren't there again. Kinda poopy. We need our 4th for Euchre!
Lea, Johanna and I stood in the kitchen talking about how we could get to see you this summer if you decide to stay, but short of a miracle I have no idea how Lea or I could join Johanna on the trip, so we just have to wait for you to come home. (Come home soon!!!!!!)
Hope the crawl went well. Keep on having fun, thanks bunches for the b-day wishes and for your discretion on the age thing. Very discreet of you, but eff it. I'm old and I don't care anymore! HA!
Much love to you oh sister, my sister. If we don't have the chance to talk before then, have a fantastic New Year! Catch ya soon!
XOXOXOXOXOXOXO
